Nest chair

Eco-friendly designstudio Floris Wubben likes to work with natural materials and looks for designs harmoniouslycooperating with nature. Before the Dutch designer started working on this chair he observed howbirds construct their nests. This 'natural architecture' is one of Wubben'sfascinations and the outcome of his research, The Eyrie Chair, is a stunning piece. For making the nest steam-bended, he used ash. Earlier workof the Dutch designer consists among other things of the nr. 3 bench which wasbased on a caterpillar resting on a branch.

Pixel sculptures

Pixel art is up and coming. Especially in the digital age since we spend a lot of time in the virtual world where the images we look at are exist of pixels. These amazing 3D animal sculptures are created by Texas based artist Shawn Smith. One of the questions he ponders on while making his art is: 'How do we experience nature in the digital world?' Smith is fascinated by how technology changes the relationship to the world, as people become more removed from firsthand experience by observing the world through a screen. Those are fascinating philosophical questions with a beautiful concrete outcome. His pixel series 'Re-things' are build pixel by pixel as Smith tries to understand how each pixel plays a crucial role in the identity of an object. Beautiful.

Moody mountains

The imagination starts racing immediately while looking at this limited edition wall paper by Paris based studio Minakani. The mountain landscape with the moody air seems to tell a story. What happened, who lives here (dragons a princess in a tower) and is there a hero quest? Oh well, maybe it's just my imagination. As the matter of fact I'm fantasising right now, where in my house I should put up this gorgeous wall paper. From this custom print, there are only a hundred available. As goes for the other beautiful and exclusive motifs by Frédéric Bonnin and Cécile Figuette from studio Minakanim who launched their wall decor line 2 years ago. All the motifs are printed onto high quality non-woven paper.
